How I Skyrocketed My Productivity (With One Item)
Buying a whiteboard changed my life. Here’s how:
Having a to-do list on my phone or notebook adds friction. After writing my list, I turn the page and never come back to it again.
But not with a whiteboard.
There is no escaping a well-placed whiteboard. This creates a constant state of accountability.
Every time I walk into my office, I am greeted with a reminder of the task at hand. After completing the task, my whiteboard glares in front of me with the next priority.
You may think I’m being lazy, but I am simply removing friction from achieving my to-do list.
This is my life hack to being productive.
How to use a whiteboard
Divide your whiteboard into 5 sections:
Narrowed down as incremental weekly tasks, targeted at achieving your monthly/yearly goals.
A list of tasks you need to achieve for the day. If you’re not sure what to put on your list. Consult your weekly goals and see what you can achieve today.
Map your to-do list to your schedule. Allocating time slots with constraints to your tasks. This is important to see how much time you have for each task.
You might see there is not enough time for your ambitious to-do list, or it may spark action.
This is your area to run free. Stuck on an issue at work? Jot down thoughts! Draw! Let your mind explore and the solution may reveal itself.
Quote of the day
My favourite section. A quote of the day to inspire motivation. What words connect with you? How do they relate to what you’re trying to achieve now?
Find something which connects and feel empowered.
Update your whiteboard every night
After achieving your to-do list, update your whiteboard ready for the next day.
Your priorities will be fresh in your mind, and you will make tomorrow another day of success.
